According to a study conducted by Fairtrade America, American consumers recognize coffee as the most popular Fairtrade product.

They’re actually willing to pay 35% extra per pound of Fairtrade coffee.

The Time When Coffee Lovers Choose to Have their Coffee Depends on Age

An NCA report revealed that 90% of older coffee drinkers love their coffee at breakfast. That’s 20% more than the 18 to 24-year olds!

Also, the probability of an 18 to 24-year-old coffee lover ordering a cup of coffee during lunch is 50% higher than coffee lovers over 60.

Senior Americans are More Likely to Drink Coffee

Ibis World conducted a study on the per capita coffee consumption trends in the US.

They found that as the per capita income increases, the quantity and quality of coffee consumed by coffee lovers also increases.

So, for most Americans, the more they earn, the more they’re willing to spend on coffee!

Coffee’s Popularity Has Been Dwindling Among Younger Americans

YouGovAmerica mentions that unlike the older generations (65+ years) who mostly love coffee, the younger Americans love tea and coffee equally.

Each has a 42% popularity among millennials.

27% of under-30s only drink tea, while only 18% of this age bracket only drink coffee.

Only 57% of these younger Americans drink coffee, compared to 83% of Americans aged 65+.

Arabica Coffee Dominates America’s Coffee Cup

A report by the US Department of Agriculture on unroasted coffee imports shows that Arabica coffee takes the lead in US coffee imports.

Robusta coffee and decaffeinated coffee follow at a far distance.

In the 2020/21 financial year, the US imported about 19 million 132lb bags of Arabica, and just about 3 million 132lb bags of Robusta.

Decaffeinated coffee came last at less than 2 million 132lb bags.
