How are 2 Minneapolis Coffee Shops Preparing for Halloween?

It’s that time of year again – when boys and ghouls dress up in their favorite spooky costume, when we carve pumpkins, and tour haunted houses.

It is also pumpkin spice season, and what can you infuse this flavor with? You guessed it…coffee!

To celebrate the season, coffee shops in Minneapolis are doing many fun things for you to enjoy this Halloween.

By Andrew.

Two local coffee shops were happy to share their spooktacular Halloween plans with our readers.

Hark! Café: A Downtown Minneapolis Treat

Hark! Café celebrates Halloween all October long with special seasonal treats like mini pumpkin cheesecakes and ghost pepper popcorn balls.

In addition to that, they’re serving their beloved drink The Pumpkin King.

“It’s a warmly spiced autumnal drink made with real pumpkin! It’s caffeine-free but espresso shots can be added,” says Katherine, the owner of Hark! Café and adds quickly that the pumpkin they use in the drink is local.

Everything in their cozy cafe is vegan and gluten free.

“And our coffee is Fair Trade and organic,” adds Lisa, the co-owner.

So even in the middle of the spooky season, you can be assured— there’s nothing unethical happening Hark! Café.

Of course, the cafe hasn’t forgotten the spooky decorations.

“We love to decorate the whole cafe and get into the spooky season,” says Lisa.

And you can see that they have made an effort. There are tons of well-thought through spooky details all over the cafe.

Want to get even more into the season? “Go pick up a spooky novel from Magers and Quinn,” recommends Katherine.

Lisa adds that after enjoying your pumpkin drink with a book it’s nice to gather some friends and watch a scary movie at Trylon theater.

What great suggestions!

The Coffee Shop Northeast: A Very Festive Menu

Located in Northeast Minneapolis, the Coffee Shop Northeast is celebrating Halloween the right way, with a special Halloween drink menu for the entire month of October.

As you can see from their extensive festive menu, the owners of The Coffee Shop Northeast, Jenni and Jodi, really love Halloween.

So be prepared, they are not going to take Halloween lightly here!

“We dress up on the 31st,” says Jenni and adds that they usually have a theme thought up by the crew.

They also have trick-or-treating on their block for the younger kids.

“It’s tons of fun and we’ve been doing it every year since we’ve been open,” says Jodi.

Other Things to Do in Minneapolis for Halloween

Besides visiting coffee shops, Minneapolis has many other fun Halloween activities.

The world’s largest indoor amusement park, Nickelodeon Universe, located in the Mall of America, will hold a special Halloween event called Nickelodeon Boo-niverse.

There, you can meet all of your favorite Nickelodeon characters dressed up in Halloween costumes.

There will also be a dance party.

Bring the whole family for a frighteningly good time.

Also, be sure to check out the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular at the Minnesota zoo.

Take it from me, a local privy to the scene, that this is the event to attend this Halloween season.

With thousands of lit up pumpkins, fog, and music, it will surely satisfy your Halloween fix.

If you need a break from the kids and want to do something more for adults, consider doing the Minneapolis Happy Hour Halloweekend Pub Crawl.

There will be drink specials, live DJs, and a costume contest. Make sure to get your tickets early!

Conclusion

Minneapolis coffee shops have mixed two of my favorite things – coffee and Halloween – in very fun ways.

By offering drink specials, decorating their shop, and dressing up, they are celebrating Halloween in style.

If you are in Minneapolis for Halloween, be sure to check out Hark! Café and the Coffee Shop Northeast.
